Chapter 4
Workspace
Show the tools you need #
Use the shared toolbar controls to show or hide the timeline and device panel. The media browser occupies the right side of the editor. Split View provides a secondary Piano Roll for another set of tracks. The two panes retain their own track selection.
Standalone can open Piano Roll, Arranger and Video Editor in separate windows through their undock controls. Hosted instances do not offer separate workspace windows. If a menu opens in a secondary window, finish that action there before returning to the main timeline.
Samples and Video Browser #
Use Sample library in the shared toolbar to open Samples on the right. Video and shader library opens Video Browser and switches the main timeline to Arranger. Both libraries use the same side-panel slot. Opening the other library replaces the panel content; pressing the same library control again closes it.
Drag the panel's left edge to resize it, or use the close button in its header. The timeline uses the remaining width. The saved editor layout records the panel's open state and width; native reopening has not been verified for this draft.
Samples browses the sample catalog. Use its preview control to audition an available sample; repeating the preview for the playing sample stops it. Tempo sync changes the preview rate for catalog loops that have a BPM. For system MIDI files, follow the project import workflow.
Editor panels #
Use the toolbar to open the editor panels you need. Their availability depends on the runtime, active add-ons and selected content. Named workspace switching is unavailable in the current app.
- Timeline editing: Piano Roll and Arranger.
- Devices and harmony: Device Chain, Score, Harmonic Lattice and Patch Bay.
- Video editing: Video Editor, Inspector and Visual Graph.
Mixing in the current workspace #
Use track volume and pan, standalone mute and solo, group buses, and the selected Device Chain to mix the project. Select the master output to inspect its chain.
Standalone metronome and count-in #
In standalone, open Project Settings from the bottom-bar gear. In Playback, use Metronome to switch the click On or Off, adjust Volume, and choose Count-in: Off, 1 bar or 2 bars. The Metronome toolbar control also toggles the click.
Count-in runs before standalone preview playback only when the metronome is on. The Record Deck uses the same count-in bar setting, with No count-in as its off option. In a hosted instance, playback follows the DAW transport.
