Edition draft-56 · Draft · Source-reviewed instructions · Native coverage incomplete

Chapter 29

Tutorials

Draft: source-reviewed; native walkthrough not yet verified.

Start and resume a lesson #

Open the tutorial picker and choose a lesson by category and difficulty. The catalog contains 32 lesson entries in this source-reviewed version. Locked lessons show the required add-on or setting instead of pretending the controls are ready.

Tutorials spotlight controls and some steps wait for a real action or a changed project value. Draw the requested new notes, change the requested selection, or commit the requested ratio rather than only opening a panel.

Practice edits remain in your current project. Use Undo to remove them when you finish. Recording lessons can own a recording session while the lesson is active, so follow the stop and finalize steps.

The editor records progress and completion, and video lessons can retain a target clip for resuming. Progress restoration after restarting has not yet been checked for every lesson in this draft. Do not treat the chapter as a guarantee that all lesson progress survives reopening.

Open Tutorials & Help from the question-mark button or the toolbar utility menu. Getting Started is set to open once for the current user; closing or skipping it also counts as shown. Open the picker again to browse lessons by category and difficulty. Draft: progress restoration after restarting remains unverified for some lessons.

The first screen of the welcome tour also lets you choose the UI language. That choice updates the same language preference used by Settings > System.

Some lesson steps advance after their completion check is met. Information steps use Next.

Start here #

Getting Started introduces the main editor. Projects, I/O & Settings walks through project versions, file exchange, Settings and shortcut discovery. Begin with these when the command panel and timeline are unfamiliar.

Create music #

  • Editing Essentials practices selection, moving, resizing, duplication and cleanup.
  • Time, Loops & Stretch practices time ranges, note stretching, transport loops and note loops. It requires the arranger/clip feature.
  • The Arranger practices arranging clips across a song timeline.
  • Transforms introduces immediate transforms and the enabled advanced dialogs. It does not ask you to click controls hidden by add-on availability.
  • Pitch & Expression practices bend points, drawn curves, automation and velocity. It requires the expression/automation feature.
  • Recording practices track setup, synchronized takes, stopping and finalizing.

Harmony and tuning lessons #

  • Just Intonation Kickstarter creates practice notes and an exact harmonic link. Harmonic Tuning must be enabled and link authoring must be allowed.
  • The JI Chord Menu inserts tuned progressions with the chord palette. It also requires the chord tools.
  • Harmonic Links Mastery practices manual links, ratio editing and graph choices.
  • Tuning & Microtuning covers cents, roots, tuning settings and Circle of Fifths workflows. Check the chord and tuning prerequisites shown by the picker.

Instruments and audio lessons #

  • Stem Separation introduces local stem creation and requires the free Stem Separation add-on.
  • Sound Design & Synths visits instruments, hosted VST3, envelopes and effects. The device panel must be available.
  • Per-Note Sampling attaches audio to notes and explores repitching, stretching, warping, looping and beat sync. Enable Per-Note Audio in the Store.
  • Vocal Synthesis covers lyrics, phonemes, expression and pitch with the vocal engines. It requires Pro vocal access.
  • Vocal Resynth & VPE turns recorded vocals into editable note material and practices formant, pitch and timing edits. Detailed Per-Note Audio authoring requires Pro.

Content and extensions #

The Store & Content introduces the in-app Store and its sounds, voices, instruments, transforms and visuals. Follow the current Store availability and Free/Pro controls. The lesson is not a pricing or purchase guarantee.

Video essentials #

These lessons use the video workspace and require the Video Editor add-on. The picker asks you to activate, install and enable it when needed. A source-reviewed lesson does not establish preview/export parity for every platform.

  • Video Workspace Foundations practices importing, selecting, arranging and previewing a first clip.
  • Your First Visual Layer creates and edits a persistent generator layer.
  • Your First Video Keyframe animates a selected layer.
  • Your First Visual Graph Edit promotes a layer to an editable production graph.
  • Your First Video Recipe applies an available Free recipe through the production editing command.
  • Canvas, Layers & Compositing practices fit, transforms, layering, titles and styling.
  • Motion, Beat Sync & Retiming practices animation and beat-based timing changes.
  • Generators & Visual Building Blocks creates compositions from color, images and adjustment layers.

Media Machine lessons #

Shader and reactive lessons need particular care during verification. This draft has not proved that every taught route reaches the intended layer and parameter, or that every shader example produces matching native preview and export. Use these lessons as guided authoring practice, with their runtime results still awaiting verification.

  • Your First Music-Reactive Route creates a curated route. Custom route authoring remains Pro.
  • Shader Lab, Particles & Raymarching introduces programmable generators and their inputs. It requires Video Editor, Media Machine and the visualizer availability shown by the picker.
  • Scripted Visual Automation introduces per-frame JavaScript or Lua in preview and export.

Video production lessons #

These lessons require Video Editor. Confirm the selected candidate and inspect the resulting output before relying on a delivery workflow.

  • Media Management & Finishing covers proxies, cache, grading, scopes and finishing tools.
  • Video Recording & Multicam covers capture setup and beat-locked multicam editing.
  • Export, Conform & Publishing introduces delivery settings. A lesson does not itself publish content or establish a completed external upload.
