Chapter 30
Troubleshooting
Identify your build #
Open Settings > About and record the product version, build information and displayed License plan. Include your operating system and whether the problem occurs in standalone, VST3 or CLAP. Describe the shortest sequence that produces the failure.
For an editing problem, include the selected track, clip type, view and tool. For a render problem, include the chosen output format, range and exact error. Share a project copy only after removing private media or content you do not want to disclose. Keep credentials and license keys out of screenshots and reports.
No sound #
In standalone, check Settings > Audio, the selected output, master level, track level, and standalone mute and solo. A muted parent group silences the child even when that child is selected. Check that the track has a playable instrument or media source.
For a hosted instance, check the DAW track routing, MIDI input, audio output and host transport. Choose hardware devices in the host. If a hosted instrument is unavailable, inspect its saved device identity and use the app migration workflow rather than replacing unrelated track data.
If only a tuned or expressive part fails, check the instrument's supported tuning and expression method. MIDI CC, note expression and plug-in parameter automation address different targets.
Save is unavailable #
Ordinary Save needs a library project. An example or externally imported document needs Save As New before it has a library save destination. Save Version retains the open version and creates another numbered file. Export DonutStudio Project writes a separate file.
If the app reports Save Failed, the current document remains open. Check the destination before retrying. Draft: a named-library update can fail without stopping a pending replacement. Save a separate copy before replacing important work. In a hosted instance, save the host DAW project.
Recovery checks #
Open Settings > System > Recovery > Restore from backup.... Valid snapshots are listed newest first. Match the timestamp and note/link counts to the session you need. No recovery snapshots found. means the scan found no valid entries. It is not a list of project versions.
After restoration, check that media and devices are available and save the result as a named project or a new version. If an older snapshot restores less state than a current session, retain your current project copy and report the difference.
External access errors #
Open Settings > External access and check the selected grant and its permissions. A scoped client cannot use full legacy automation merely by connecting. Code permission applies to the reviewed bytes; export writing also needs an approved destination. A revoked or expired process grant cannot authorize later work.
If a previously approved permanent client asks for approval again, investigate which client and installed app are being used and whether trust storage is available. Do not paste credentials into a support report. Use the displayed error and client name to describe the problem.
Downloads and runtime setup #
The download page is the current authority for application availability. Windows, macOS, Linux and AUR downloads are unavailable. Existing installation notes do not restore those downloads.
An optional-runtime failure is separate from the app download state. Report the add-on, installed runtime status and displayed error. An enabled checkbox is not proof that a model or helper installation succeeded.
